As long as "Zorro" the Northern Shrike is still in town the cold days of winter will probably last a little longer. In Spring, when it gets warmer, these beautiful raptors migrate to their breeding grounds in Scandinavia. You can see them during winter sitting on a high post looking for mice and (dung) beetles. They also catch small songbirds. They 'spear' their prey on thorns and twigs of trees and bushes to build a food supply.
