Rond deze tijd is het makkelijk om Reeën te vinden, als je tenminste deze akker weet te vinden. Veel fotografen weten dat inmiddels, ze komen ieder jaar weer van heinde en verre, het is alleen de kunst om in te schatten wanneer de akker in bloei staat. Ik ben hier licht in het voordeel omdat ik op fietsafstand woon en hier vaak kom, ook als de akker niet in bloei staat zitten hier Reeën. Dit jaar ben ik regelmatig teleurgestelde fotografen tegengekomen die te vroeg waren, de akker was een paar weken later ingezaaid dan gebruikelijk. Misschien vanwege het koude voorjaar. Het witte bloemenlaken, dit keer van wilde Radijs, heeft een grote aantrekkingskracht op de Reeën in de omgeving. En alhoewel ze niet echt mensenschuw zijn zorgt het rondrennen en luid geklets van toeschouwers en fotografen er wel voor dat ze op afstand blijven. Daarom fiets ik meestal door als het druk is en wacht een rustiger moment af. Als je in stilte blijft wachten komen ze soms echt op een paar meter voor je neus uit de bosrand gestapt...

Around this time of year it's easy to find Roe Deer, if you know where to find this little field. Many photographers do, and each your they come from all over the country, but it's hard to predict when the crops are in bloom. I have a small advantage since I live nearby and frequently visit the place. There are always Roe Deer to be found here. This year I met several disappointed photographers who came to early, surprised that there wasn't a green sprout to be seen on the field. Probably because of the cold spring the field was sown in a few weeks later then last year. Although the animals aren't shy at all, they tend to stay at a distance if to many spectators and photographers run around and talk to loud. I usually avoid these 'rush hours' and come back at a quieter time. If you just sit and wait they'll pop up from the forest edge right in front of you...
