Ja, het lijkt een obsessie te worden, maar ik krijg er geen genoeg van. Makkelijk is het niet om die 'perfecte' foto te maken, dus ik blijf proberen. Ook is er nogal wat afleiding van het hoofdonderwerp, de Reeën. Er vliegen bijvoorbeeld jagende Boomvalken rond, die met hun prachtige acrobatische toeren proberen insecten en vogeltjes te vangen boven de hei. En er lopen, rennen en fietsen mensen die soms lawaai maken, of hun honden los laten lopen, en zo de dieren verstoren. Of gewoon in je zichtveld staan of, erger nog, op luide toon vragen of je nog 'wat bijzonders hebt gezien'. Het antwoord is steevast 'nee, niks bijzonders'. Zo heb je de meeste kans dat je met rust gelaten wordt...:-)

Yes I know, it's starting to look like an obsession, but I just can't get enough of it. It ain't easy to get that 'perfect shot', so I keep on trying. There's also quite a lot of distraction from the main subject, Roe Deer. There are Eurasian Hobby's hunting in the sky, displaying there acrobatic skills to catch insects and birds above the heathland. And there are people walking, running, and cycling who make noise or let their dogs run around unleashed, and by doing so disturb the animals I'm trying to photograph. They obstruct your view or worse, ask you in a loud voice if you've 'seen anything interesting'. The answer; 'no nothing interesting', is my best bet on being left alone...:-)

Ik had het al eerder over de karakters en gewoontes van individuele dieren. De bok in onderstaande foto's is van het type ADHD. Hij staat geen twee minuten stil en zit continu achter de vrouwtjes aan, bronst of geen bronst. Af en toe eet hij wat van de Brem en hij is constant zijn territorium aan het afbakenen door geursporen achter te laten op bomen en struiken door er met zijn kop langs te wrijven. Als je rustig blijft zitten en je hebt geluk, komt hij vanzelf een keer jouw kant op want behalve onrustig is hij is ook nieuwsgierig. Meestal is dit echter niet van lange duur dus je kan maar beter voorbereid zijn voor die foto...

Earlier I wrote about the characters and habits of individual animals. This buck is of the ADHD type. It doesn't stand still for more than two minutes and it is always chasing females, even outside the rut period. It feeds on the Broom now and then and is constantly marking its territory by rubbing its head against brushes and trees to leave behind its scent. If you quietly sit and wait, and are lucky enough, it'll come your way eventually because it's curious also. This doesn't last though, so you got to be ready for that shot...
